Focused Services to Reduce Prices

We hope to keep our costs lower than traditional full-service Veterinary clinics by keeping overhead costs as low as possible. One way we reduce our overhead and subsequent prices is by limiting the services we provide to be focused on helping the fight to reduce pet overpopulation. This means we primarily will be offering Spay and Neuter surgeries and associated services, and will not be a typical full-service Veterinary clinic.

Having a specific core focus helps us keep prices more affordable for our rescue organization clients as well as our general public clients. For routine or advanced Veterinary care needs, we would be glad to refer you to local full-service Veterinary clinics.

We are a local business near downtown Berthoud. Berthoud provides a convenient location in the heart of Northern Colorado. It has a great small-town atmosphere that is rare to find these days and we are proud to be part of the business community here.

Community Focused

We are part of a growing community of people and organizations (businesses and non-profits) fighting pet overpopulation, and we hope to help promote and assist them whenever possible. We hope our affordable services help them help as many animals as possible, and we also want to help raise awareness of the awesome cats and dogs that are available from local rescue organizations.

Our Team

Annelise (Lise) Cummings, DVM

Lise grew up in nearby Boulder. She decided to pursue veterinary medicine as a second career in 2005, with her main interest being in reducing pet overpopulation through spay and neuter. She received her veterinary degree from CSU in 2011 and completed a one-year internship at Texas A&M in 2012.

Since 2013, Dr. Cummings has performed thousands of Spay and Neuter surgeries in Northern Colorado, often for homeless feral cats, rescued cats/dogs, and pets in lower-income homes.

She now lives in Windsor with her husband Jim and their cat Socks (a forever foster from the Humane Society).

Our Services

To help ensure our prices are as affordable as possible, we provide the following focused set of Veterinary services.

Available Surgeries

We perform Spay and Neuter surgeries for cats and dogs. All surgeries include an exam, post-surgery pain medications, and a nail trim at the time of surgery. Proof of current rabies vaccination (certificate or tag) must be brought to the appointment - if not provided, the animal will be vaccinated for rabies at a cost of $26 (patients under 12 weeks of age are exempt from this policy).

Checks (ID is required and a $20 fee is charged for insufficient checks)

In heat or obese female dogs - $40 extra
Pregnant dogs - up to $75 extra
Cryptorchid males (undescended testicle) - up to $200 extra per undescended testicle for dogs, up to $75 extra for cats

Cats:

Spay (female sterilization): $120
Neuter (male sterilization): $105

Dogs 8 months old or younger - maximum weight for this age is 70 pounds

< 30 pounds: $285
30-49 pounds: $305
50-59 pounds: $350
60-70 pounds: $380

Dogs over 8 months of age - maximum weight for this age is 30 pounds

Up to 3 years of age: $320
3 to 5 years of age: $350
Over 5 years of age: $380

Dog Neuters (male sterilization) - maximum weight 120 pounds:

< 30 pounds: $255
30-59 pounds: $275
60-79 pounds: $295
80-99 pounds: $330
100-109 pounds: $370
110-120 pounds: $390

All surgeries can additionally include (at additional cost):

Pre-anesthetic bloodwork (Complete Blood Count and Chemistry panel): $80
- This can give us information about any conditions that your pet may have that would impact anesthesia and/or surgery. Bloodwork is appropriate for any age of pet, but highly recommended for pets over 6 years of age.
- Please let us know at the time you make your appointment that you would be interested in bloodwork, as we will schedule the blood draw for the week prior to your surgery appointment.

Online Pharmacy with Home Delivery

We have an online pharmacy that you can use to request medication such as heartworm prevention for your pet. Click here to access the online pharmacy.

Please note that we must have seen your pet within the last year to approve a prescription, and it must be medically appropriate for your pet.

How the Process Works on Surgery Day

Basics

Drop-off is between 8 and 8:30. Please call or text 970-825-9604 when you arrive. We use curbside service to provide a streamlined and safe check-in process.
- For dogs on leash – please remain with your dog in your car until we come out to meet you.
- For dogs in carriers – please label the carrier with the dog’s name.
- For cats - cats must be in a carrier so that we can collect your cat safely. Please put a towel or blanket in the carrier and label the carrier with your cat's name. If you do not have a carrier, PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR WITH YOUR CAT. Call or text us we can bring you a cardboard carrier that we sell for $10.
Pickup is usually mid-afternoon to late-afternoon, but we are open until 5. We will call you when we know when your animal will be ready. Please note that we reserve the right to charge a late fee of up to $50 should you arrive after 5.
- We kindly request that you not call to check if your pet is ready – we have a lot of surgeries to do and we want to be able to give our complete attention to all of our patients.
Please do not feed your pet after 10PM the night before but do leave water available. If your pet is 3 months of age or younger, you can give a small snack in the morning.

New Client Form

Once you have a confirmed appointment scheduled, please fill out our New Client Registration form electronically by noon the day before your appointment, so we can get your pet in the system. Click here to fill out the New Client Registration form.

Discharge Instructions and Payment

When you arrive to pick up your pet, please call or text us at 970-825-9604. We will bring your pet out of the building and collect payment. We will email you your pet's medical record.
